I am in Honduras. People are nice!

I left this morning from Somotillo in Nicaragua and I am now in Choluteca in Honduras.

You have to pay 3$ USD to leave the country. The exit from Nicaragua went well. I also had to fill out an exit form. The process in Nicaragua is very cumbersome and from another era!!!

Entry into Honduras was also complicated. First, you had to line up to show your proof of vaccination. Then you had to make the other line to go through passport control. The fingerprints are then scanned. The cost of entering the country is 3$ USD.

Finally Honduras!!!

Everyone told me not to go to this country. Uh! I do not have a choice! It's a must to go to Mexico!

I had my first lunch in Honduras: eggs, frioles, a piece of cheese and tortillas. It was really good. I paid 50 Lempira or about $2 USD.

The first contact with the people of Honduras is going quite well. People are very friendly here! I am happy to share a moment with very nice people at Comedor La Casita del Sabor. (To see the photo)

The landscape is mountainous and everything seems very dry. Once again there is a sorry sight along the road with rubbish everywhere! It's crazy to see so much waste! I saw a little boy throw away his cookie wrapper!

Special encounter with a cyclist

I met Hélène who made the incredible crossing from Alaska to Argentina. It is already at 10,000 km! WOW! CONGRATULATIONS Helen!!! I feel a bit like a beginner vis-à-vis his route, because I only have 2000 km in my legs!

She has a great Facebook page called La Traversée du smile ! See the link below if you ever want to take a look. It's a great project that promotes good oral hygiene to children. She even distributes toothbrushes for free! CHEER! Helen!

I also met Idalia who cooks tortillas over a wood fire. It is possible to buy 3 corn tortillas for 2 Lempira. Idalia claims to make around 400 Lempira per day or $22 CAD per day.

I also bought a mango at a small kiosk run by Yaniel, a 10-year-old child. I paid 10 Lempira ($0.55 CAD)

I am at Kali hotel for one night. It is a perfect place to rest.

I'm going to explore this city when the temperature is a little lower, at the end of the afternoon!

Thank you to life for allowing me to live all these adventures...

David
